Dr. Omar Brito’s liposuction patient, who fell into a coma from surgery complications, has been pronounced dead. 37 year-old mother of three, Rohie Kah Orukotan, went in to Westin MedSpa for a Smart laser liposuction procedure, and ended up having an extensive liposuction from which she fell into cardiac arrest followed by a two week coma.  Her family had to make the dreadful decision to pull the plug as there were no chances of her surviving.

Dr. Omar Brito claims to have been unaware that Westin MedSpa was prohibited to execute proper liposuction since the practice is not licensed to perform such surgeries.

“Brito claims he has done nothing wrong and has been cooperating with police. Orukotan’s family attorney said the injuries she sustained were consistent with a much more intrusive liposuction than cosmetic laser lipo and possibly was a full liposuction.”

“Smart laser liposuction is a non-invasive procedure, generally considered safer than actual liposuction.”

Dr. Amy Sarver, the OB-GYN to the Duggar family was out of town when Anna Duggar went into labor. Josh and Anna Duggar welcomed Mackynzie Renee Duggar during an unplanned home-birth, a last minute decision by the young couple since they were not comfortable with other physicians. Mackynzie is the first granddaughter for TLC’s 18 Kids and Counting, Bob and Michelle Duggar, who are currently pregnant with their 19th child.

Disapproving yet loyal fans of the TLC show chimed in on Forums saying:

“I feel it was an irresponsible decision on their part. I still love the Duggars and will continue to watch them - I just really found their decision to be a poor choice.” – Van in MN

“OMG! They made a last minute decision to have a home birth — because Dr. Sarver was out of town! Crazy Kids!” – Ralar

Dr. Oz successfully kicks off his new show.  The release of Dr. Mehmet Oz’s show was welcomed properly with high ratings of 2.4 average households.  His new health talk show is also successfully raising the ratings for other network shows as the “lead-in show.”  During the second week, The Dr. Oz Show took third place after Oprah and Dr. Phil.

“Dr. [Mehmet] Oz is a man of the people,” says John Weiser, Sony’s president of distribution. “Viewers feel connected to him, and they really engage with the information he delivers.”

Bad Berries? Dr. Mehmet Oz and Oprah Put the Squeeze on Acai

You may have seen açaí berry products recently advertised with Oprah Winfrey and Dr.  Oz’s name endorsing it and giving the dietary supplement their fool proof guarantee.   Quotes from her show of Dr. Mehmet Oz discussing the product were erroneously fabricated and tied to the products’ advertising and marketing in order to boost sales and make them trustworthy brands.

Dr. Oz explained on todays ABC “Good Morning America:”

“Many Americans have seen images of me, and Oprah and others supporting, it would appear, products that actually don’t work in the ways that are described. And more importantly, when consumers trusting us try to buy these products over the Web, what they end up getting are fake products, pills that don’t really have what’s promised in them. They’re often duped into paying more than they should. If my picture is next to a product, endorsing it and supporting your purchase of it, I did not give them permission.”

40 companies have been sued as a result by the daytime duo.  According to Vitals.com, Dr. Mehmet Oz is a New York board certified Thoracic Surgeon and speaks 8 languages.  He’s favored by his patients and has been America’s Top Doctor for the past decade.

Oprah Winfrey’s Web site stated:

“Consumers should be aware that neither Oprah Winfrey nor Dr. Oz are associated with nor do they endorse any açaí berry product, company or online solicitation of such products, including MonaVie juice products. Any companies that misrepresent their affiliation are making false claims.”
