There are many factors that go into making the decision on who to book an appointment with when searching for new doctors. Everyone has different preferences and expectations for their doctors, which is why it’s important to think about what matters most to you while doing your research.

When you start the search, different questions may come to mind. Do you prefer a male doctor or female doctor? Does the doctor’s office accept your insurance? Are you looking for a doctor who speaks multiple languages? How far away is the doctor from your home? Have you read reviews from other patients to learn about their experiences with the doctor and the doctor’s office staff? Is the doctor affiliated with a hospital?

The process may seem overwhelming at first, but we’ve created a checklist below to help you identify important questions to ask yourself – and to ask your potential doctor during your initial search.

Visit Vitals.com to find great doctors near you and to read patient reviews. Learn about a doctor’s office, bedside manner, and more in patient-reported reviews from doctor’s offices.

Print or download this checklist as you start the search, and share it with friends and family who are also looking to find new doctors.
