Time to slap a tie on Bowser and a smart pantsuit on Princess because today is “Take Your Dog to Work Day. ” Started by Pet Sitters International in 1999, June 22nd is a day to “celebrate the great companions dogs make and to encourage their adoption from humane societies, animal shelters and breed rescue clubs.”

The group believes that taking your dog to work will showcase the bond between humans and canines, encouraging others to adopt a pet of their own.

And if that isn’t enough reason to pack your pet with your lunch, research has shown that owning a dog leads to lower stress levels, lower blood pressure, and improved mood in humans.

How bad can a Friday morning meeting be if interrupted by a game of fetch and belly rubbing?

So if you missed out this year, talk to your employer about participating in “Take Your Dog to Work Day” next year for a low-stress, high-awareness day!
