After noticing that she’d been having more frequent memory lapses, singer Sheryl Crow went to her doctor to share her concerns. Her doctor ordered an MRI, which revealed a benign tumor on her brain.
Crow’s tumor doesn’t require surgery at this time, and even though she’s already fought and beat breast cancer, she’s not worried about this second health scare. Crow posted on her Facebook page recently:
“Please don’t worry about my ‘brain tumor,’ it’s a noncancerous growth. I know some folks can have problems with this kind of thing, but I want to assure everyone I’m OK.”
Doctors will monitor the tumor’s growth over time to ensure it doesn’t begin to pose a threat. CNN Chief Medical Correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta described the type of tumor Crow’s been diagnosed with, saying:
“It’s a tumor that typically grows between the outer layer of the brain and the brain itself. So it’s not actually inside the brain.”
Although she has nothing to worry about at this time, Crow’s experience reminds us about the importance of listening to our bodies and being proactive about our health.
