Donna Summer Dies of Lung Cancer at 63

The “Queen of Disco” Donna Summer died in Florida today from a long battle with lung cancer at the age of 63.

Born LaDonna Adrian Gaines in Boston, Summer was a 5-time Grammy winner and is known for hit songs from the 1970s like “Hot Stuff and “Bad Girls,” and 1980s hit “She Works Hard for the Money.”

Summer is survived by her husband, producer Bruce Sudano, their daughters, Brooklyn and Amanda, and Summer’s daughter, Mimi, from a previous marriage.
