We use our eye muscles more than almost any other muscle in the body. Simply keeping our eyes open throughout the day requires the use of these muscles, so staring at a fixed object (like a computer screen) for long swaths of time is particularly draining.
Eye yoga helps to lessen the wear and tear that everyday use causes our eyes through a series of controlled movements that strengthen and help to relax our fatigued eye muscles.
Exercises involve moving your eyes up to the ceiling and down to the floor, all the way left and all the way right, in each diagonal direction, and finally all around for strength, then cupping your palms over your closed eyes for relaxation.
Sir Paul McCartney is a fan. Watch his video below for exactly how to practice eye yoga.
But remember to continue receiving regular eye exams. Use Vitals to find an ophthalmologist near you.
