Dick Clark, iconic host of long-running television shows like American Bandstand and Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve, passed away today at the age of 82 after suffering a massive heart attack.
“America’s Oldest Teenager,” as Clark was affectionately referred to for his youthful appearance, pulled out of the spotlight in recent years after a stroke in 2004 impaired his speech. Clark handed over hosting duties for New Year’s Rockin’ Eve to Ryan Seacrest in 2005/2006 and has acted as co-host ever since.
