Celebrities are deemed as perfect as can be. So when stars reveal that they are also patients dealing with health concerns, people begin to relate to them in a different way. More down-to-earth and human, are some of the more humble qualities that they’re personality starts to take on. As was revealed on the Sunday episode of “Keeping Up with the Kardashians”:
“People don’t understand the pressure on me to look perfect,” Kardashian said on the show. “When I gain a pound, it’s in the headlines. Imagine what the tabloids would do to me if they saw all these spots?” (abcnews.go.com)
The spots Kim is referring to are the scaly red patches she found on her leg. After immediately consulting a dermatologist and not letting it develop further, Dr. Harold Lancer was able to diagnose her with psoriasis and give her the right treatment for the condition.
Frequently labeled as dirty or contagious, Psoriasis is a common condition of the skin that is triggered by excessive stress and affects almost 8 million people in the country. Her mother, Kris Jenner, had developed it at the age of 30 as well, which confirms that it passes on genetically.
Treatments vary upon level of outbreak, but it’s possible to maintain psoriasis under control. Most important thing is to consult a dermatologist to get the proper treatment.
