As Diabetes Awareness month comes to an end, a new study by UnitedHealth Group Center for Health Reform and Modernization revealed a shocking yet quite inevitable statistic, that half of Americans will be living with diabetes and pre-diabetes costing us a mere $500 billion. With key catalysts such as junk food, alcohol, smoking and sedentary lifestyle, it is no surprise that we are heading in this scary direction.
Dr. Deneen Vojta strongly encourages Americans to take charge of their weakening health and make the necessary changes:
“We need a sense of urgency. There is a lot of money and human suffering at stake. The good news is that we know what works, and if we work together in a concerted national way, we can win.” Apart from exercising, people should start sticking to healthy diets and should already avoid unhealthy lifestyles.
According to Vitals.com, Dr. Deneen Vojta is a board-certified pediatrician in Minneapolis, MN. She completed her medical degree at Temple University School of Medicine in 1991. She is currently a senior vice president of the United Health Center for Health Reform & Modernization.

This is not all a matter of adjusting lifestyles. This article focuses on Type 2 diabetes, which is very different than Type 1 diabetes.
