Casey Johnson:
The young and light hearted heir of the Johnson & Johnson empire, Casey Johnson, was found dead on January 5. Rumors of drugs and alcohol as a cause of her sudden death swirled around until now.
Coroner’s office reveals that Casey Johnson went into a diabetic coma, also known as diabetic ketoacidosis. This is a lethal condition that is caused by extremely high blood sugar and lack of insulin.
Brittany Murphy:
The Los Angeles county coroner has revealed that Brittany Murphy’s sudden death in December of 2009 was attributed to a combination of things: pneumonia and iron deficiency anemia, as well as multiple drug intoxication.
This was a death that could have easily been avoided had Brittany had proper medical attention. Simon Monjack, Brittany’s husband, explained that she was taking Vicoprofen and Fluoxetine, a pain killer and antidepressant medication for her menstrual cramps.
“Murphy was planning on seeing a doctor, but she unfortunately passed away before she did,” Assistant Chief Ed Winter told People. “This was a case of a person with pneumonia who was anemic (having a low blood count) who was taking medication when she should’ve been getting medical treatment.”
