1. Put some over-the-counter hydrocortisone cream on the spot. (Prescription strength works much better though).
2. Cover it with a circular Band-Aid overnight. The Band-Aid coverage is the most critical part, so do not skip it.
3. Do not repeat it for more that two to three nights at the most because it can thin the skin in the long run.
The redness will be significantly better due to the anti-inflammatory effect of the hydrocortisone.
