Dr. Allison Jeffers Dooley follows her husband Derek Dooley, who was just named head football coach of the University of Tennessee Volunteers. Dr. Allison Dooley has relocated her practice as her husband has held positions with the University of Georgia, Southern Methodist University, Louisiana State University, Miami Dolphins and Louisiana Tech. In 2001 she received the Carlomango Award for Outstanding OBGYN at the Louisiana State University Medical Center. This is not so simple to relocate her practice, especially considering the fact that Dr. Dooley has practiced medicine as an OB/GYN.
Dr. Dooley will be missed at Louisiana Tech. She was very active in Breast Cancer awareness. Both Dooley’s mother and mother-in-law have been diagnosed with breast cancer. She said she sees many women battling the disease in her profession.
“It’s something that’s close to my heart,” Dooley said.
Dooley said it is important for students to be aware of the danger of breast cancer because even young women and men can be diagnosed with the disease.”If you feel something, go to a doctor,” Dooley said. “It’s so much better to go and have them say ‘everything is fine.’ Go see your physician if you’re ever worried.”
We are pround and honored to have Coach Dooley and his lovely wife as an addition to the VOL family!!!!! We hope for great things from him and his coaching talents and put that Kiffin story behind us and move on!!! That name of Dooley has such a wonderful southern ring!!
