Dr. David Drew Pinsky, also known as Dr. Drew, has recently partnered with VH1 for a third season of the hit reality show Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew. Premiering in early January, Dr. Drew once again attempts to tame the beast within his famous patients.
The new season promises to outshine the past two as viewers witness Heidi Fleiss, Dennis Rodman , Mackenzie Phillips from One Day At A Time, America’s Next Top Model Lisa D’Amato, Alice in Chains bassist Mike Starr, Tom Sizemore and others battling their demons.
‘The series will chronicle the patients’ intensive 21-day program with both group and one-on-one therapy and non-traditional therapies like art and music. Returning to the show to help Dr. Drew are drug counselor Bob Forrest and resident technician Shelly Sprague who have each spent years on both sides of the rehab fence. Dr. Drew is also bringing in some additional prominent physicians to help him give the patients supplementary one-on-one care.’
Recently, Dr. Drew made headlines commenting on Lindsay Lohan’s latest display of affection for alcohol saying:
“I’m convinced that she’ll get sober one day. But I’m afraid that between now and then, she may get a nearly mortal wound of some type. I’m really convinced that something horrible is going to have to happen to her before she really gets over it and embraces sobriety. She needs to give it up. And it’s going to be a while before she does. I have this image that she’s going to lose a limb or something before she does. And it scares me.”
To which Lindsay Lohan tweeted:
“I thought REAL doctors talked to patients in offices behind closed doors. Am I wrong? Hmmmmm. I think NOT. Yay!”
According to Vitals, Dr. David Drew Pinsky is an internist specializing in addiction medicine. He had acquired his MD at the four star Univesity of South California and completed his residency training in internal medicine at Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena, CA.

Dr. I have been sober for 10 years by the grace of God- when this little princess entered rehab at Loma Linda (came from OKC- bit scary) I thought my only addiction was shopping. They told me my intake of oxycontin was equal to a 10 year heroin addict! Here is my question- when I would go on my Xanax “black out” without really knowing I was doing it- I was functiong, talking, working, driving but my body was telling me that I needed more. Do you think MJ was in a Xanax blackout thinking that he really needed more to sleep- his brain telling him this, but his body really was in a state of “sleep”? As you know addicts get very irrate and turn pursuasive to get what they think their brain is telling them what they need. Sadly- I used to walk around in these Xanax induced “black outs” and by the grace of God no one was hurt physical but I did do some damage to my best friends- not remembering what I said and all- I could put some pieces of convesation during those dark moments, but who would want to take that chance with me again? I thank my GOD and I thank my family for staying by my side and helping the little girl in me heal and grow up. Thank you Dr. Pinksy for all your hard work and the blessings you bestoe on others- you will have a special place in heaven!! Truly yours in recovery! Dena B
I just wanted to say that because of this show I was able to overcome my own addiction. Everyone around me made fun of my addiction. They said it wasn’t like alcohol or cocaine. It’s not addictive they said. They had all tried it and never become “addicted” to it. Perhaps, but I wasn’t able to stop, physically or mentally. I simply couldn’t stop and it was effecting my family, work and friends.
It got to a point I couldn’t go a day without it. Coworkers began to talk. Soon my family started noticing the changes. My friends tried to talk to me about it, but I refused to hear what they were saying. In my mind I knew it wasn’t addictive. How could it be? I had been doing it fo so long I didn’t know life without it. But the signs were there. The hours wasted. Sitting listless and not wanting to move. Motivation was non-existent. I still refused to believe it was addictive or I was an addict though.
Then I saw this show and I was able to finally come to terms with my addiciton. I knew from Dr. Pinsky’s words that I was addicted and could truly call myself an addict. It hasn’t been easy, but with the aid of local doctors, my loving family and caring friends, I am overcoming my addiction one day at a time. If it wasn’t for Dr. Pinski helping that young lady with her marijuana addiction, I would still be a slave to my addiction as well – cookies.
Thank you Dr. Drew Pinski, you’ve made me understand that cookies are just as addictive as alcohol, cocaine, heroin, prescription pills and of course, marijuana. Thank you.
It seems a bit outrageous to me to make a reality show on some people's misery, no matter if they are celebrities or not. They are also human and they do the same mistakes we all do, this shouldn't be the theme of a television show.

Why are they all so young? When Courtney Love did drugs, I admired her for being old enough to know what she's getting into. All these young stars are doing it because of their entourage. They should see what drug rehab treatment means for ordinary people. I'm sure stars are being treated better. Perhaps nicer rooms and other accommodations.
