Lakshmanan Sathyavagiswaran

Initial results of coroner Dr. Lakshmanan Sathyavagiswaran indicate frantic attempts to resuscitate 50-year-old Jackson had broken several of his ribs.

He graduated from Madras University, India, from Stanley Medical College in 1971. He did a year of internship in Madras Stanley Medical College, and he came to the United States in 1972. He did a year of straight medical internship at Brooklyn Jewish Hospital, which he completed in 1973, and then proceeded to do a full year training in anatomic and clinical pathology at St. Luke’s Hospital of Columbia University, the last six months being as Chief Resident. During this time between 1973 and 1977, he also did some part-time work at the office of the Chief Medical Examiner in New York City for about two years. His areas of expertise are forensic pathology and infectious disease. He published 19 publications, mostly focusing on pathology and autopsy.

He was the medical examiner during the O. J. Simpson murder case and testified in the criminal and civil trials. Dr. Sathyavagiswaran also testified in the trials of Dean Carter and Phil Spector, as well as in the wrongful death suit brought against the Los Angeles Police Department by the family of Emil Matasareanu.
